SMS Messaging Terms

Last updated May 9, 2026

SecondDesk powers service-related operational text messaging for service businesses. These terms describe what kinds of messages may be sent, how consent is obtained, and how recipients can manage messages.

What kind of messages this is

Messages sent through SecondDesk are service-related operational communications triggered by customer interaction with a business — not marketing campaigns, promotional broadcasts, or bulk outreach.

Types of messages you may receive

  • Missed-call follow-up — a brief text after a call to a business is not answered, inviting you to share what you need.
  • Scheduling coordination — confirmations, time options, and reminders for service appointments.
  • Intake continuation — questions to gather details (location, photos, preferred timing) so the business can respond.
  • Customer support updates — status updates, dispatch notes, and follow-up after a service is completed.

How consent is obtained

Consent for service-related messages is obtained when a customer initiates contact with a participating business — by calling the business's published number, submitting an intake form on the business's request page, or replying to a missed-call follow-up.

Example disclosure language a business may use on its intake or contact surfaces:

By contacting this business, you agree to receive service-related text messages regarding your request, scheduling, and follow-up. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. Messages are sent based on your interaction with the business — there is no scheduled cadence and no promotional drip.

Carrier and rate disclosure

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Opt-out — STOP

You may opt out of further messages at any time by replying STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT) to any message from the business. We will send a single confirmation and stop further messages from that business to your number.

Help — HELP

Reply HELP to any message for assistance. You will receive a short reply with the business name and a way to contact them for support.

No marketing, no resale

SecondDesk does not send promotional, marketing, or affiliate messages through this channel. Phone numbers and message contents are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and are not sold.

Privacy

See the Privacy Policy for how phone numbers, message contents, and related information are handled.
